Does another tool actually save money?
Decision guide · October 14, 2026 · Framework, not a product benchmark.
A new subscription is a cost until it replaces spending or work you can genuinely avoid. Time saved is not automatically cash saved: count it separately unless you can use or recover that time.
Will it pay for itself?

Net saving: $60.00/month. Setup payback: 5.0 months.
Assumes steady monthly savings and costs. It excludes financing, tax and uncertain benefits; it does not establish output quality.
Check the weak assumption.
Reduce expected savings, include retries and add maintenance. If the decision only works under an optimistic estimate, run a small trial first. A free plan or your current setup may be enough.
Example: $100 of monthly savings minus $40 of new costs leaves $60. A $300 migration takes five months to recover. These are illustrative numbers, not measured results.
